The association, together with Dzherelo, will provide in-kind assistance to internally displaced families with children with developmental disabilities temporarily living in the western regions of Ukraine. Our plan is to support 700 families in crisis with food and hygiene kits.
For almost half a year, Dzherelo Centre, together with UNICEF Ukraine and partner organizations, has been providing crisis support to families raising children with developmental difficulties who are in the most acute crisis in seven regions of western Ukraine: Lviv, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions. Specialists preform screenings and needs assessment of each child and family; they also provide informational support and consult about the possibility of receiving medical, educational and social services at the place of temporary residence. The team also provides special social services, adaptation or repair of any rehabilitation equipment, case management of families in the most acute crisis and psychological support for parents. Several thousand families have already received support.
Supported by IPSIA del Trentino ODV, Dzherelo Centre will purchase and assemble 700 food and 700 hygiene kits. The need for basic necessities in refugee families raising children with disabilities is very acute.
We hope that this is only the beginning of our partnership!
